W, December/January, The Art Issue


"For W’s December/January Art Issue, the magazine collaborated with artist Yayoi Kusama to create this iconic cover image depicting George Clooney. The visually arresting image is the highlight of the cover story, for which five leading female artists were invited to create interpretive portraits of the actor. Clooney wears a suit painted by Kusama with her signature polka dots and stands against a polka-dotted backdrop. Planned to coincide with the opening of an exhibition of new work by Kusama at David Zwirner Gallery, the cover makes a powerful reference to the artist’s iconic self-portraits."


This picture helps show that photographers can take one the worlds sexist man and put him into an out of the ordinary in a strange environment. I also like how exciting this image it made my eyes just pop. They also choose a good choice in lighting like the use the darker side with the side with less light and I liked that a lot. I also like what they did to there title they changed it up a bit so that way it can along with the spots, although  I think they put it there so we can read it easier but I also think that it work and help out with the theme. I think that there is a good amount in composition like abominably the pattern of the dots but they may have a few lines with his coat. They also in a way some simplicity in the background because although it is eye catching it is very simple for the fact that it is just dots.
