My Favorite Black and White Photographer

William Eugene Smith

      Was born on December 30, 1918. He started photographer at 15 when he was taking picture for two local newspapers when he was in Wichita North High School. He went to University of Notre Dame when he got a scholarship just for him. After one year he left and went to New York to study from Helene Sanders. He then work for News-Week in which he got fired for refusing to use the cameras they wanted him to use. He then worked for BlackStar and worked as a freelance.
       
      When WWII happened he took photos of it for Life and Flying.
he got servilely injured a lot but still took pictures of what was happening and was in the front lines. 
      
      When he got back home he work for Life, then resigned to work for Magnum. He the left to teach in the University of Arizona but died of a stroke on October 15, 1978 in Tucson, Arizona. His legacy is that he wrote Jacques-Henri Lartique and has a foundation that funds the success of photographers.
